The one thing we can't save, is time!
I once heard a powerful story about a man who wanted to fully embrace the value of each day and live with deeper intention. To keep this awareness front and center, he created a wristwatch that counted down the estimated days he had left to live, based on the average life expectancy.
For instance, if he was 50 years old and the average life span was 75, that meant he had roughly 25 years, or about 9,125 days remaining. To drive the message home even further, he reframed it: 25 more summers. 25 more Christmases. 25 more birthdays.
When you think of life in these terms, it shifts your perspective.
Now pause for a moment and do your own math. Based on your age and projected lifespan—What is your expected length of stay?
I highly recommend reading the book, "The Last Lecture", by Randy Pausch. Randy originally delivered his famous lecture—titled “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”—in September 2007, as a way to share life lessons after receiving a terminal pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Throughout the story, it is very evident Randy's hypersensitivity of time and the wasting of time!
Life hands us all kinds of curves on our path, reroutes, and unexpected challenges, but no matter what you may be facing, don't give up on living life each day to the fullest. There is always something to be grateful for, something to smile about, something to bring you joy.
Seek it. Embrace it. Live it...fully and unapologetically.
Action Item:
Live like time is precious!
Let’s pause and reflect on how you're spending your most valuable resource—your time.
Take a moment to identify and begin releasing time-wasting habits that no longer serve you, and start making room for the things that truly matter, especially when viewed through the lens of limited time.
Reflection Prompt:
“If I only had six months to live, how would I spend my time differently—starting today?”
Write down the top 3 things you would stop doing immediately.
Then, list the top 3 things you would prioritize—the people, experiences, or actions that would take center stage.
Let this guide your choices moving forward. Even small changes today can lead to a more intentional, fulfilling tomorrow.
I’ll leave you with a simple quote from a dear friend:
"I can live with less if I have more to live for."
Thank you for being here,
Jim
